This is only one of the things that you can do to help keep your dogs cooler in the vehicle. Blocking the sun from entering the windows, covering the vehicle with an Aluminet (or similar product) and the use of a battery operated fan can help with airflow.
If, when 'locked open' one can reach inside and unlock, then this would not be the recommended ventilation option.
